Crissal Thrasher, Mesilla, New Mexico, USA NA001

Crissal Thrasher - a very elusive spirit of the Arroya, is a unique bird of the deserts of the southwestern USA. This individual was caught photographically in Mesilla, New Mexico. A most remarkable bird, seldom seen except as a shadow under the Mesquite bushes where it digs amongst the leaf debris for spiders. Very occasionally they take higher positions and sing a delightful song to establish a territory and attract a mate.
